Coalition for Volunteering - role, structure and strategic directions for the development of Romanian volunteering

In order to gather the potential of the community, volunteer involvement has to be managed in a most professional, sustainable, and continuous way. The key point of the whole process is the volunteer coordinator, who is at the same time the architect - the one who plans all the details and coordinates the contributions of the teams - as well as implementer - the one who makes sure all activities are successful. Within this document, we propose a series of best practice elements for volunteer-involving organizations, that can help build a quality volunteering program.

In order to develop volunteering and reach the wide array of benefits that it can facilitate on an individual level as well as for the whole community, there needs to be a sustainable, flexible, current volunteering infrastructure, that is supported by all stakeholders in the community. This document presents a set of recommendations that are necessary to develop the capacities of volunteer-involving organizations and of volunteering in Romania.

Following consultations with volunteer-involving organisations and the expert group, we formulated this proposal to amend the Volunteering Act at the end of 2022.

The first international conference for volunteer managers organized by the Coalition for Volunteering.

This is the position of the Coalition for Volunteering with regard to the B513/2021 proposal to amend the Law on Volunteering no. 78/2012. The position was requested by the Romanian Economical and Social Committee. We expressed our opposition to the proposed amendments and the ESC has also given a negative opinion, however the proposal has been adopted in July 2021 by the Romanian Parliament.
