IT specialists

VSO urgently needs experienced IT professionals to volunteer their skills in Africa now. At the moment we're working with a range of organisations mainly in countries like Ethiopia, Malawi, Gambia, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia. You could be sharing your skills in teacher training colleges, or supporting hardware and network maintenance, database design and maintenance, network administration, LAN, WAN and troubleshooting. Whatever your role, you'll be making an important contribution to bringing valuable IT skills to Africa.

We're looking for experienced IT professionals with a minimum of 4 years' experience (but preferably much more) and a relevant degree, and with a broad range of IT skills, such as network development and administration, hardware and software maintenance, website development, database development, troubleshooting. Some placements require formal teaching qualifications and experience, for others, informal training experience such as training new staff in your work place is sufficient. For all placements, your communication skills are just as important as your technical skills. You're not just improving the IT infrastructure of these organisations but also developing staff and making a significant impact on the lives of the disadvantaged communities they serve.

ICT Department Adviser - Ethiopia
An experienced IT professional is needed to support the development of an IT Department at Abi Adi College of Teacher Education. You'll be responsible for establishing an effective network, improve desktop support and train your local colleagues to become self-sufficient in network development and hardware support.
