Managers / Management Advisers
We urgently need experienced managers to work with organisations in developing communities. As a management volunteer with VSO you could be working alongside colleagues in human rights NGOs, HIV and AIDS charities or farmers associations to name a few. By setting up effective management systems and/or business strategies, you’ll ensure these organisations are more productive and sustainable.
If you are looking for a new challenge and want to make a real difference in some of the world's most disadvantaged communities, apply now. Your background could be in the business or the public sector. Perhaps you run your own business. You don’t have to have worked as a management adviser/ consultant before. Whatever your background, as long as you’ve got the qualifications and skills listed below, you could volunteer with VSO in a management role.
We’re looking for managers with a relevant degree and at least 3 to 5 years experience in a mid to senior management role. Your management experience can be in any sector, as long as it includes the following transferable skills:
- organisational development;
- company strategy/planning;
- managing change;
- developing monitoring and evaluation systems;
- developing management and administrative systems;
- budget control;
- staff training, leadership and motivation;
- communications.
At the moment we particularly need people with good organisational development experience, preferably with community-based organisations. Experience in financial systems management, facilitation and staff capacity building, reporting/documentation systems and partnership development are all considered assets.

Monitoring & Evaluation Specialists
We are looking for people with a relevant degree and at least 2 years' experience in developing monitoring and evaluation systems for programs, project planning, information management, data analysis and reporting. You could be volunteering in countries like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan or Zambia.

Small Business Advisers
We urgently need small business owners / managers to advise organisations in poor communities. By setting up effective management systems and business strategies, you’ll ensure they'll become more productive and more sustainable.
You'll need min. 3 years' experience and a variety of small business skills, including product design & production, marketing, PR, planning, financial management, staff management. You'll be confident in identifying and implementing new business opportunities. Ideally you'll have managed teams of at least 8 people and hold a relevant degree.

Small Business Adviser - Malawi
Working towards food security with a Business Development Service Centre, you’ll provide business advice, training and support to farmer associations and other small enterprises in Malawi’s central region. Financial Managers
We need experienced accountants and financial managers for volunteer work in Africa and Asia. While you’ll need sound financial acumen, we’re also interested in your ability to strengthen capacity, build confidence and train your colleagues in financial best practice. Our volunteer placements often involve trouble shooting, consultancy and developing or improving monitoring and accountability systems in additional to general financial work. All positions require financial management experience.
You’ll need at least 2 year’s experience in managing project funds, budgeting processes, setting up financial systems and planning. A degree or other relevant qualification (ACCA/CIMA) is also usually required. Programme funding experience is preferable.

Micro-Finance/Enterprise Development Adviser
We are looking for people experienced in financial development, business development, loan applications for those without acces to banks, developing micro-finance schemes, or perhaps even managing micro-finance institutions. Professionals with experience in working with cooperatives are preferred.
You could help with the development of a micro finance system. This might include assessing the existing micro finance scheme and identifying weaknesses, assessing the quality of the existing loan portfolio and advise on repayments, as well as helping to prepare proposals for funding support.
A min. of 3 year's experience is required, and ideally a relevant degree is preferred, but not essential.
